Planning a woodland wedding? If so, it’s likely that you’re already thinking a little outside the box. To help you on your way to creating a totally unique and authentically “you” wedding, we’ve rounded up eight fun ideas to spark your creativity and get your guests enjoying every moment. Think playful and interactive ways to make your day uniquely and unforgettably yours!
Unique Woodland Wedding Activities Your Guests Won’t Forget
A woodland wedding doesn’t follow a script, and in some ways that’s the whole point! What you’ve opted for isn’t a copy-and-paste setup. Your wedding naturally leans a little more relaxed and a little more creative.
Outdoors, with just trees, open space, and the freedom to do things your way, you’ve given yourself the unique task of being able to structure your wedding day just how you like it!
So, want to have an acoustic fire pit sing along? Go for it. Want to go all-out on lawn games and silly competitions? Absolutely. This is a space to be creative and bold!

Activities for Guests During a Woodland Wedding Weekend
The possibilities are indeed endless, but to get you inspired, here are some of the woodland wedding activities we think are truly cool and unforgettable. Let’s dive in!
1. Set up some outdoor lawn games
Lucky for couples planning their wedding days with us, we have a selection of lawn games for your guests to enjoy and you’re more than welcome to borrow them. Watch the kids get stuck into the bean bag toss, and then, watch the adults join in the fun! Instead of putting the emphasis on just the drinks, the food and the dancing, why not offer another way for people to enjoy their day? Plus, a little friendly competition is a great way for your guests to socialise with guests they may not have met!
2. Enjoy a woodland scavenger hunt
The beauty of a woodland wedding is that it naturally gives guests space to wander and explore. Instead of keeping everything centred in one spot, you can use that setting to your advantage. How you choose to do that is up to you, but we think a scavenger hunt is a fantastic option!
A scavenger hunt is a simple way to bring a bit of structure to your wedding that’s outside the typical wedding format. Guests can follow clues through the woods, discover different corners of the venue, and fully experience the setting. It could be as playful or as personal as you like; funny prompts, themed clues, or small nods to your story as a couple. Maybe add a small prize at the end, too.

3. Organise a campfire gathering
At The Woods at Oakley, as evening falls, guests naturally gather around the fire pit. It’s the perfect spot for chatting and enjoying the atmosphere and for those who are staying on site in the bell tents it really adds to the feeling of a camping weekend.
So if it suits your group, why not add a little acoustic performance to the agenda? Have an aspiring singer on the guest list? Or perhaps you simply want to hire someone to perform? Either way, offering another form of entertainment is a wonderful way to bring people together and wind down in the evening hours.
4. Set up a creative corner
As we mentioned, a woodland wedding invites lots of creativity. But that doesn’t mean you and your partner have to be the only ones creating. Under the sun of the day, why not set up a craft corner? You could have a specific item for your guests to make, or you could simply set up a painting corner for the kids and the adults, asking them to hang up their paintings on a string, as a keepsake from your big day.
Did you know you can have a custom paint-by-numbers made from your venue or even based on a photo of you and your partner? Set it up on an easel and let guests add to it throughout the weekend, whenever they like. By the end, you’ll have a finished painting created by everyone who was there!
5. Consider a silent disco
Imagine dancing under the canopy of trees, stars twinkling through the leaves and everyone lost in their own little world of music?
Most of us might have been to a silent disco, but at a wedding? Probably not yet! This is another activity to add to your evening program to have guests completely surprised by your creativity! Have everyone grab a set of headphones, pick a channel and watch the chaos unfold.

6. Set up a sparklers moment
7. Lay out a picnic or relaxation area
As much as we all love a wedding, sometimes we like to take a moment away from the group to sit down and take a breather. If you can relate to this idea, or like the idea of offering guests their own little escape, turn a corner of the woodland into a little world of its own. Lay down blankets, scatter cushions and bean bags, and add baskets filled with snacks or little treats, creating a spot where guests can sink in and relax whenever they like. Let it feel festival-inspired, or maybe a little romantic, like your own secret lounge among the trees.
Guests can linger here between dances or chat with new people over wine, but the main thing is, it gives people a chance to socialise in a different setting, away from the main tables, while soaking in every magical moment of your woodland wedding!

8. Consider a woodland play or circus zone
If something more active or playful sounds appealing, then this one could be good for you.
Transform a patch of the wood into a playground for all ages. Scatter hula hoops, badminton nets, and maybe even simple circus props like diabolos, juggling balls, or spinning plates. Guests can wander in, try something new for a few moments or just watch the antics unfold.
This one is perfect for sparking conversations, showing off hidden talents, and essentially just letting everyone embrace their inner child among the trees!
